The Owens Community College Truck Driving program is one of the oldest and best-connected programs in the State of Ohio.
We have long-standing partnerships with the leading employers in the trucking industry. Your truck driver training and CDL classes at Owens will help connect you with a job in the truck driving industry.
Recruiters routinely come to Owens to meet with our truck driving students near the completion of their CDL classes to interview and hopefully hire our students as quickly as possible.

HazMat Entry-Level CDL Endorsement Training
This CDL class will prepare truck driving students for the CDL-A Hazmat Endorsement test.
As of February 7, 2022, those who wish to obtain the CDL-A Hazmat Endorsement must complete a Hazmat Training course through a training provider on the Training Provider Registry through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Hazmat Endorsements are valid for 3 years.
Hazmat Training course topics include:
- General knowledge of hazardous materials.
- Security risks and threats.
- Hazmat safety regulations.
- Hazmat packaging and signage.
- How to report a hazmat incident properly.
- How to read and properly placard a load.
- Shipping papers and how to handle them.
